Stewie’s Haunted Houlton Adventure
Listed via columbiacountyspotlight.com
A 13-foot skeleton named Stewie wants you to explore St. Helens’ Houlton District this Halloween. The South Columbia County Chamber of Commerce will be home to St. Helens’ tallest townie as Stewie’s Haunted Houlton Adventure begins. The event will be held over three weekends, with themed events and a free shuttle that will run between the St. Helens riverfront and Houlton District. Who is Stewie? He’s twice as tall as Michael Jordan, wears a train conductor hat and is inspired by the Houlton District’s history in the 1890s. The artist behind the display is Byron Ohler, who also made the giant pumpkin at the center of St. Helens’ Spirit of Halloweentown festivities. Stewie will be installed outside the chamber’s historic train station building at 2194 Columbia Blvd., where visitors are invited to stop by for a photo. Stewie’s Haunted Houlton Adventure For three themed weekends, visitors to the Houlton District are invited to explore local businesses and attractions — and come dressed for the occasion. The event kicks off Saturday, Oct. 17, with a “Twilight” theme, featuring free screenings of the movie series 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Columbia County Chamber of Commerce building. The next weekend is themed “Heroes & Fairytales,” inviting visitors to bring their favorite storybook characters to life Oct. 24-25. The event will conclude on Halloween weekend with “Spirits, Ghosts & Ghouls,” on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. Throughout the event, the chamber will host vendors and themed activities at the chamber’s headquarters, 2194 Columbia Blvd. From noon to 5 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday during the event, a free shuttle operated by Columbia County Rider will make a loop between the Houlton District and the St. Helens riverfront with stops along the way.
