Columbia Dance presents a sensory-friendly performance of its original Fort Vancouver Nutcracker on Friday, December 18, at Skyview Concert Hall in Vancouver, Washington. Designed for audiences who benefit from a more relaxed theater environment, this is a “no-shush” performance featuring lower music volume, modified lighting, house lights remaining on, and relaxed audience expectations. Audience members are welcome to move around, make noise, leave the theater, and return as needed. The Fort Vancouver Nutcracker is a large-scale community production featuring more than 100 student dancers and guest artists. Set in 1840s Fort Vancouver, it combines classical ballet with the history and imagination of the Pacific Northwest. Columbia Dance is a nonprofit arts organization founded in 1989, with a mission to enrich lives in the community through dance and create opportunities for more people to experience live performance.
