DESCRIPTION:Providence Academy was built by Mother Joseph of the Sacred He
 art in 1873 and served as a school\, orphanage\, and governance offices fo
 r the Sisters of Providence. Mother Joseph\, along with four other Montrea
 l nuns\, traveled to Vancouver to serve the social and religious needs of 
 locals. Providence Academy has four stories and is constructed in brick in
  a neo-Georgian style. It operated as a school until 1966. The Academy is 
 open for tours Wednesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. by reservation o
 r for small walk-in groups\, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on select Friday evenin
 gs\, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on select Saturdays. Parking: Visitor spot
 s are marked in the paved parking lot to the east of the building. Pay-to-
 park spots are available on Evergreen Blvd. and nearby streets downtown. A
 DA parking and entrance is available near the roundabout at the back of th
 e building. Duration: Tours may run approximately 40-60 minutes. Final tou
