SUMMARY:Providence Academy Concert: Joel Underwood
LOCATION:Providence Academy\, 400 East Evergreen Blvd.\, Vancouver\, WA
DESCRIPTION:Joel Underwood returns to the Providence Academy Chapel for a
brand-new show! Providence Academy Concert presented by Columbia Invest &
Insure Not Fade Away: Stories and Songs of Buddy Holly The Historic Trust
is pleased to welcome back music historian\, Joel Underwood\, to present t
his brand-new show. Buddy Holly emerged from Lubbock\, Texas in the mid-19
50’s and blazed across the rock-and-roll sky like a comet. Before his unti
mely death in an Iowa plane crash at the age of 22\, he and his band The C
rickets created a series of pop music masterpieces and the template for wh
at a rock band looks and sounds like\, influencing later artists such as B
ob Dylan\, Elton John\, and The Beatles. In an evening that combines humor
\, toe-tapping\, and tears\, musician and historian Joel Underwood returns
to Vancouver to tell the story of Holly’s humble beginnings\, two years a
s a rock icon\, and sudden\, tragic death in 1959. Who was “Peggy Sue”? Wh
at movie inspired “That’ll Be The Day”? It’s an evening at the theater tha
t leaves audiences saying\, “Oh Boy”! Price: $18/each Ticket price include
s all taxes and fees. Tickets are available in advance only.
