SUMMARY:Installation of Non-Gated Playground
LOCATION:Port of Ilwaco
DESCRIPTION:DJHCC is doubling down on its physical presence at the port\,
which most immediately includes the addition of a non-gated playground tha
t has received the needed permitting and is anticipated to be installed in
the first quarter of 2027. While the kids may face some initial dismay —
climbing the mountain of bark chips that has been placed in advance of the
installation has become a favorite for many\, Bruncke noted — the playgro
und will bolster outdoor and recreational opportunities on-site for the co
mmunity center. Features include three slides\, a mini rock-climbing wall
and spinners. "The kids are very excited\," said Bruncke. "We’re hinting a
t it but haven’t given them a timeline yet\, because they’re already excit
ed and I can’t let their excitement grow too much."
