  Fort Vancouver
LOCATION:Columbia Dance Center\, 1300 NW 139th St\, Vancouver\, WA\, 98685
DESCRIPTION:Make a holiday trip to Vancouver\, Washington\, and experience
Columbia Dance’s original Fort Vancouver Nutcracker\, December 18–20 at S
kyview Concert Hall. This is not your typical Nutcracker. Set in 1840s For
t Vancouver\, the production weaves Tchaikovsky’s beloved score into the r
eal history of the Pacific Northwest\, with scenes inspired by the people\
 , places\, and stories of the region. Beavers\, fur trappers\, covered-wag
on travelers\, dancing wapato plants\, and a mystical moon all find their
way into this imaginative take on the holiday classic. Created through his
torical research and collaboration with local historians and Fort Vancouve
r National Historic Site\, the production offers a distinctly Pacific Nort
hwest interpretation of a familiar holiday tradition. Since its debut in 2
021\, more than 28\,000 people have experienced the Fort Vancouver Nutcrac
ker\, with approximately 5\,000 audience members attending each year. More
than 100 student dancers and guest artists bring the production to life\,
presented by Columbia Dance\, a nonprofit arts organization founded in 19
 89. Come for the ballet and make a weekend of it. Explore Fort Vancouver\,
the Vancouver Waterfront\, local restaurants\, and other holiday activiti
es while you’re in town. December 18–20\, 2026 Skyview Concert Hall | Vanc
